Re: Bergen, Norway with local islands.
This blog is everyday things I do, see. Some of the posts are blank, as I´ve not had time to add the info and photos yet.
-walks, hikes
-local places to go, such as pubs, book cafes
-festivals
-a bit of the local islands
-parks and playgrounds
-ski, snowshoe walks, ice skating on lakes, local sports
-a bit of Norwegian language study
-places to swim in the sea, kayak, beaches, forest walks from or near the beaches
School is across from the sea, with views of the surrounding mountains, forests, sea. There´s a lovely, picturesque wooded copse for picnics, walks, play. Large basketball court play area. Sand-filled playground area with wooden structures, climbing ropes, wood ladder fort, wood tipi-like rope climbing jungle gym, etc.
Small classes, about 10 kids each section. Table-desk-chairs, large couch for kids to sit on during reading time, other sections in classroom. Bench area outside immediate classroom door, where kids put their backpacks, outdoor shoes, outer coats, extra clothes, etc. Indoor gymnasium.
Oh and sooooo sweet! The older classes, participated lots, by singing to the 1st year kids, playing outdoor chasing games simiar to standing version of Duck Duck Geese, basketball, etc. The older boys were so sweet, acting up a bit to show off but really nice to the younger kids playing games, showing them where things were, talking to them.
Enjoyed the walk to the school, then walking a few hours later to the barnehage a few minutes down, where the girls are. Walked across the way to the local shops for food. All of this is directly off the sea, near one of the boat quays. The kids had fun eeking out as much extra playing-in-the-barnehage playground time as they could before we left!:)
Also, n had her cast on....but amazingly was just as dare-devil-may-care adventurous as usual! Glad it´s not scared her or changed her one little bit:) She climbed up the high wooden plank ladder, climbed thru the tunnel out to the slide, just as usual, cast or no, nothing stopping her! Mommy however, breathing in anxiously lest she tumble backwards off the ladder, me standing hands near by to catch her, if....
Luckily, no. more. falling! All 3 are such climbers, curious, adventurous!
