Winter TIps 1 : preventing dry skin, store info (add pics)

Like many people, my skin prefers a hot, sunny, very humid clime, which is not usually ever the climate here. Some winters my hands have suffered deep bloody cracked skin, from even the shortest exposure to the cold, rain or not, here, as it is also very windy, dry often also here. I´ve tried lots of things, and here are a few which helped immediately usually. Also great for prevention, in addition to wearing woolen mittens and gloves, waterproof winter gloves.

1)
Lansinoh, which is actually made for breastfeeding to prevent and heal cracked, bleeding skin, works amazing for hands obviously too! Sometimes I would put it on my hands before putting winter gloves on. And some nights, before bed, if my hands were cracked and bleeding, I´d apply Lansinoh (put a little on one top side of one hand, not your palm, then spread from topside of hand to other topside of hand, is best, so as to not have the underside of your hands sticky). Lansinoh is extremely thick the cooler the temperature the package is exposed to, so you might need to warm the tube of cream before applying. Soaking the tube in hot water usually works. (If you carry the tube with you, just try to keep it in the warmest part of your backpack, or just warm it up in your hands first).

2)
Combination about 1:1 of Burt´s Bees Mama Bees peppermint and rosemary lotion, and Aveeno´s lotion. Or similar. Both great for right before bed, and right before going out, though easier to apply right after a shower. I use this for body, arms, feet, legs, hands. NOT face or any delicate sensitive areas, because of the peppermint/rosemary. Boots sells both I think, though I got mine elsewhere, in Nesttun at the Små Ting-like shop Mitt Rom.

3)
Oddly in cold weather here, my face is both dry and oily, which means I need to both moisturize well but also use scrub daily. For this I like
