Oct 31 is their annual Halloween Night for families (see previous posts), just one of their many events. That night from 6pm til about 9pm, they´ll be darkening the exterior and interior, for spooky ghost trekking throughout their usual exhibits.
The Museum, part of UIB, the University of Bergen, is hence as university museum, founded in 1825. With two large main collections divided into Cultural History and Natural History, the museum also caretaker of such things as the surrounding locations of botanical gardens (see new post), which has been under renovations for about a year now, the city´s arboretum in Milde (see a future post), and such.
It´s an easy walk from sentrum, is near the large reddish spired brick church, or over to Nygårdsparken, a large green space and wooded park with lakes in Nygård surrounding and part of the Bergen university. Other things easily within a quick walk, are Vilvite, which is also accessible from the nearby new bybanen line. I will try to do posts on these, but for now a few other things in Bergen by weblinks. As the city is so compact it is all easily accessible by walking, bus or bybanen. Rarely, a taxi or car, or sometimes even a boat, is necessary.
