Today at 5 starts høstferie (autumn holiday), bookmarked with a weekend on either side, officially here October 8, a Monday, til October 12, a Friday. But, with the weekends on either side, unofficially, today after work/school til Monday October 5th.

Oslo for the kids to visit family, me a whole long week (10 days) to study. It´s gorgeous weather out today, but have a bit of an annoying sneezing headache etc cold, so am indoors, enjoying the views of the gorgeous sunny day from afar, the slightly ajar windows. Bundled and snuggled up in woolen blankets and warm silk sleeping bag, taking a break from baking and study.

My views from this chair, are:

Window 1, to my left, a wonderful low majestic rounded solid rock mountain, with shrubs of blueberry, heather, tiny stalks of trees growing from tiniest craggy ledges. The foot of the mountain is a narrow forest along the mountain, with a patches of  deciduous forest growing from larger crags and ledges above. All the trees near my window, wrapping around to the forested foothill of the mountain, have started losing their green, a few losing their leaves, in now yellows, oranges, golds, reds. The huge oak tree across the way, rope swing hanging down, is still all green, but has spectacular fall colours once getting going! The apples on the apple trees are green dappled with red, soon ready for making pies with.

Window 3 & 4, to my right, light shining through a forest of trees, barely a breeze or less. Gossamer white fairy-like fluff float slowly down from some of the trees. Leaves are still mostly green, with much yellow, dapples of sunlight and red-orange, orange, rust and lime leaves, as they turn autumn colors. Today it is warm, but a few days ago, it was windy, hail, cold. On a night I sat for an hour waiting in that for the bus, dressed much too thinly as earlier in the day it had been warm and sunny. As I silently grumbled to myself, I tried to enjoy the solitude, the darkness with glittery stars and hail, and a family of large hedgehogs I saw wandering about. The sea was choppy, angry, blustery cold winds constantly spraying mist my way as I sat on the wooden bench under and inside a strong cavelike construction, wondering I was so protected, thanking whomever had chosen to face the construction in the only direction which could protect it from the strong gail winds coming off the sea. My legs, in thin cotton leggings were cold. My feet, in thick wool summer socks and hiking boots were fine. The rest of me, in a thin cotton dress, and a light lined summer rain jacket with hood, was mostly ok but after an hour was getting cold also. I put my hood on, wishing I´d dressed warmer, but had only thought I was going from the car T dropping me off, to the bus, with a quick walk home of 3 minutes. Of course, not paying attention to the actual bus number whilst talking to a few others waiting, meant I´d gotten on the wrong bus, dropped off alone waiting for the bus I did actually want, at a time and place the bus rarely went thas late (past 8pm).

In my head, all I could do was chide myself for not dressing warmer, especially after living in Colorado where the weather changes so frequently, I found myself trapped for hours on a local mountain a short hike from my house, because the warm sunny morning had suddenly changed to deep snow, gale winds and I wasn´t dressed for it. Luckily I had enough with me to stay warm, as I´d randomly grabbed a thick coat on the way out, to wrap around my waist, just. in.case. Though at the time, felt silly for having a huge thick winter parka around my waist when it was warm (hot) sunny out.

I should know better. But ok overall the wait was nice, beautiful black glittery sky and sea to look at, mountain to stare at, etc. I was glad I had a seat, and a shelter to sit in, and that I atleast had my rain jacket to slightly keep me warm. But I was much relieved when the bus finally arrived, and had the heater on! I was glad when I got home! Glad I still had time to start the dough I was making for cinnamon rolls in the morning. Glad to finally go to bed!
