After studying til about noon, I caught a bus to the end of the island to get the ferry to Nordnes (almost the beginning of Nordnes), which has a tiny hidden stair and dock cul-de-sac area of sea, which reminds me a bit of Venice, with its tiny narrow walkover bridge with sea underneath where tiny long narrow copula boats float underneath into a hidden courtyard of sea. At this jetty is a charming old faded traditional green oil paint (NAME?!) structure
From the sea, I walked towards the mountains, about 5 minutes til I came to the large stone building called DNS, which is where the main theatre productions, such as Peer Gynt, are shown. The flowers in the well-maintained gardens are still in bloom:
The large stone statue of Ibsen, with DNS in the background, which is just caddy corner half a tiny city block walk to the bus stop for the #11 bus, Starefossen-Nordnes-Starefossen loop route which, among other things, goes directly past the Aquariet (Aquarium). The Aquarium is a lovely walk also, but today I wanted to meet friends at a local cafe, just around the corner from the bus stop. After having Fika and lunch, we then walked back to the bus stop, catching the bus to the Aquariet, for an afternoon there. The walk back was lovely as usual, an I spent my usual lingering time walking around the edge bit at the sea. Unfortunately, when downloading the vids and photos, most of them disappeared. Will try to take some again another day!:)
For now, this is all ya get!,)
Leaves just starting to fall down to the ground, sidewalks, streets all around, swirling in the random sudden tiny tornado-like breezes. I got a great video of it, blustery windy sounds and swirling whirls of leaves, and all. Was gone when I checked my photos/vids. Bum:(
Another detail of the cobblestoned patterns in the streets along this tiny alley-like street.
The bus #11 bus stop. Bus makes a loop out & back to Nordnes, the tiny peninsula-like fingerling of land that you can see from the Fortress Castle, Fish Market; almost directly across from Bryggen (those colorful tiny houses all in a row right off the water).
All along the way to Nordnes, which is also a fine walk from the Fish Market Bergen Info Building or the main highstreet Torgallmening. Square, are tiny colorful wood houses, shops, NRK2 and other commercial buildings with hotels or apartments overhead overlooking the sea and mountains on either direction; schools, barnehages and lekeplass, parks, open green areas albeit tiny, hidden walks, and endless things to do and see and enjoy. It´s another one of our fave hikes, walks, days out. (All the days photos and videos on the walk back were disappeared when downloading).
This is the cafe, around the corner from the bus stop. Charming tiny local place, you´ll mostly only hear Norwegian being spoken. There´s a really good Chinese restaurant above, which opens later in the day, after 1pm or more. Very romantic, T and I had one of our first dates there, when we lived in Oslo:). So, yeah, quite fond of both places:)
Closer view of the outside of the cafe, with a few of the winter outdoor seating area. In summer or warmer weather, there is a larger outdoor seating area.
Just a few of the many choices of delicious selections of pastries, desserts...
I was quite thirsty, so ended up getting my usual black coffee with cream, a fresh squeezed orange juice, a water, and a sandwich! The tables are pretty, and I like the tiny vases of flowers and roses, and candles in glass votives, as it reminds me of my Grandmother who always served meals like that. And always had fresh flowers all over her house, even if it was just tiny roses tops in tiny glasses:).
It´s typical here to have candles and flowers on tables, especially in winter, as the dark days get longer. Makes things more cozy! Often, in longest dark days of winter, it is more prevalent to see large candles or similar outside of cafes, restaurants, museums, galleries, shops, homes, etc. I have a few photos on another post, I think the one of Cultural Nights.
