Re: Bergen, Norway with local islands.
This blog is everyday things I do, see. Some of the posts are blank, as I´ve not had time to add the info and photos yet.
-walks, hikes
-local places to go, such as pubs, book cafes

-a bit of the local islands

-ski, snowshoe walks, ice skating on lakes, local sports
-a bit of Norwegian language study
-places to swim in the sea, kayak, beaches, forest walks from or near the beaches
Current info. The year 1/2 renovation on the bathhouse has now been completed, with new formal interior. Last I went, the other weekend when it had just re-opened, kitchen was not yet opened, & they were having local pizza place a few blocks over delivering to pub. Kitchen though should now be open.
Atmosphere very loud, alive, everyone enjoying themselves talking lots! The Fortress across the road, was having an open air concert, so the crowds thinned out over to there as soon as the concert was about to start. We were able to talk to the locals and staff about the history of the pub, which used to be a bathhouse. Interior details are delightfully traditional, relaxing quiet, heated indoor seating area, surrounded with outdoor tables under the porch like area.
I liked the artwork in the bathrooms- They´d removed specific large tiles, to insert colorful art canvases painted by kids:)
Had strong black fresh brewed coffee with cream. Then wine later, before walking across the street then a few minutes down to fish market, past Bryggen, then to sentrum. All of that only about 10-15 minutes. If you walk in the opposite direction you get further into Sandviken area, with lots of great walks, and places to stop by, things to see. This pub is also on the Mulen Walk bus number line, # 10. Uphill goes further on to several of the walks & lekeplass I´ve already posted, or down to the sea. To the sea, to the right, catch a bus or walk further into the lowest part of Sandviken, right along the sea, to other walks, including to the Munkebotn mountain hike I will post when time.
It´s so easy to walk around Bergen Sentrum area, so many things to do, see. Or to use the bus, much cheaper than tourist buses, which hardly go anywhere.
