info: Bybanen

The bybanen, which opened summer 2010, currently is one line going from Byparken to Nesttun, with plans for 2013 opening continuing to Lagunen. This is not free, you must have a valid ticket, even a tourist, or you will could receive a hefty fine! They randomly and often check everyone´s tickets. It´s about 20 minutes from the first stop Byparken to the last stop Nesttun. Sunday hours are limited, as are holiday hours. But yesterday most stops ran about every 10 or 20 minutes even though it was Sunday. At most stops there is usually nearby bus stops  and taxi areas.

Bybanen is extremely popular, and has been from day one! This flip-up seating area is for those in wheelchairs, baby strollers, large luggages. Bybanen stops at all stops automatically, as opposed to the buses which only stop when someone is there to get on, or someone on the bus presses the light to let the driver know to stop.
The current line stops and prices...
If you will be in town for a day or more, you can go to the bus station and buy a daily or weekly bus ticket, and you can buy bybanen tickets at each bybanen stop. Some bus cards include all public transportation use, others only include specific public transportation. The bus station has an information booth you can ask a person. The Bergen Tourist Information, where you can ask advice, has temporarily moved to the fish market across from Bryggen. Sites where you can get information:
