It´s springtime, Easter, and I´m studying for my Norwegian language proficiency test equivalent C2 level. Lots to do! Whilst looking for some info on line, I found a ttpost, leading me back to the abyss which currently I´ve unfortunately no time for! I did post a few minutes breaktime, and would have liked to read some more of what everyone is doing. Cyber chocolate bunnies and marshmallow peeps to ya´ll.
Winter is mild and fierce here, for being in the location we are. Our island often has milder or more harsh weather than the mainland which is only 15 minutes away. I live surrounded by low rounded off mountains but have a view of the sea. Currently it´s snowing again. Our springtime came a few weeks ago, with beautiful tiny bulbs in whites, yellow, purple, and lots of summery hot warm sunshiney blue-skyed days which, just as suddenly was then overcome by the winter snows, rains, winds again. Yesterday I went out in what I thought was warm enough clothes sans gloves, but quickly realized my mistake, and had to forgo walking (as my hands were feeling too icy!) for taking the bus round to my errands! It´s Påske uke (Easter week holiday) here, so the buses are on Sunday or no runs, as the shops are closed for three out of the next four days, so planning for this is part of ordinary life here. When I got to the shops, I suddenly couldn´t bear to have to cook a ham, turkey, lamb or reindeer roast for Easter...so (gasp! horror!) I got salad, fruit, and stuff for sarnies (sandwiches) and decided to make Swedish Lussekatter for Easter bread, as it´s a super easy recipe. I´ll post it in a minute!
For the kids for Easter, I´m making a few totally handmade things (add photos reminder):
playdough (see above. That´s a photo of the Grape Kool-Aid playdough we made. We also made different colours, and different scents including pumpkin spice, vanilla-spearmint, and grapefruit). It´s just flour, salt, water, cream of tartar, scent/colour. Very quick, inexpensive and easy to make. The kids love it!
From scrapbooking papers I made paper stars and paper globes, to hang from their bedroom ceiling, as I´ve been reorganising and redecorating their room all week! Trying to organise their clothes, toys in a spring cleaning to get out all the toys they aren´t playing with, and any clothing they´ve outgrown. I´ll take it to the Fretex resale drop-off container bin when I have time:). Recycle. Reuse. Repurpose.
New Orleans tiny eclairs like I used to get them in The Quarter at Cafe Beignet all the time! Miss that place lots, esp the open air restaurants with music spilling out onto the streets as we walked past...that culture is so wonderful there, I miss it! We´ve been watching The Princess & the Frog movie lots lately, singing as usual and playing air jazz trumpets, sax, etc! Dancing to Zydeco, and Cajun music on YT, and listening to some music I got from that Zombie place on the corner of that other street we used to go past a lot, down from the boat. And making gumbo...Elle likes to say Hey everybody I made GUMBO! Nic likes to also...and we all have been cooking, baking, making gumbo and playdough etc together. The other movie lately, is James and the Giant Peach. Nica´s birthday was recently, and among other things I made, I folded lots of tiny paper lanterns like James does in the movie, so that we had The Magics, which I then tied onto tiny colourful Xhristmas lites. Each of them wanted A Magic, so they got to pick one Magic to take down,). (post photo reminder)
God Påske til all sammen! Happy Easter to everyone!
